YMCA Madagascar

Green Ideas Project

About the Green Ideas

Green Ideas is a youth-led initiative implemented in Ghana and Madagascar, funded by the Swedish Mission through YMCA/YWCA Sweden. The project aligns with the Sustainable Planet pillar of World YMCA’s Vision 2030 and focuses on empowering young changemakers to drive environmental action through education, leadership, and community engagement. In Madagascar, the initiative strengthens community preparedness, promotes eco-citizenship, and facilitates plastic waste recovery. The project also actively supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13 by advocating for urgent climate action. Through dedicated efforts, Green Ambassadors (youth volunteers committed to sustainability) lead community campaigns, train students, and raise awareness.

Voice from one of our Green Ambassadors

" Thanks to the Green Ideas program by YMCA Madagascar, I realized that environmental action changed far more than my daily habits: it changed how I see the world. I went from someone afraid of public speaking to a committed woman who raises awareness in her community. This experience pushes me to become a better version of myself. "
