LAUNCH OF THE DOIN’IT RIGHT PROJECT!

YMCA Madagascar lance un nouveau projet à partir de cette année : Doin’it Right (DIR).

STRENGTHENING THE VOICE AND IMPACT OF YMCAS IN AFRICA

YMCA Madagascar is launching a new project this year: Doin’it Right (DIR).

With the collaboration of YWCA-YMCA Sweden and funding from SMC and SIDA in Sweden, the Doin’it Right project marks the start of a new phase in our commitment to strengthening YMCA Madagascar’s organizational capacity and promoting the development of Madagascan youth.
The project launch workshop took place on February 28-29 and March 1, led by Heriniaina Randriamalala, Executive Director of Programs. All national and field staff met at the YMCA Madagascar headquarters in Ankerana to get to grips with this major project, which will run for three years (2024-2026).

  • History

Having successfully completed two phases of the “Youth Justice” project between 2018 and 2023, our partnership with YWCA-YMCA Sweden continues with this ambitious new project. “Doin’it Right” aims to consolidate the foundations laid by previous initiatives to make YMCA Madagascar a leading organization in promoting youth development. The years of implementing the “Youth Justice” project have laid the foundations of our skills and expertise. Now, with “Doin’it Right”, we’re ready to move into the next phase of our growth. This project will enable us to strengthen our capabilities and build the solid foundations needed to realize our vision of a strong, influential YMCA Madagascar committed to youth empowerment.

  • The DIR Poject

Doin’it right is a project that aims to strengthen the voice and impact of YMCAs in Africa. The aim is to make YMCA Madagascar a powerful player in civil society, by improving its organizational capacity, encouraging the participation of young people and women, and influencing duty-bearers to respect young people’s rights. The project has three main pillars:

Pillar 1: Organizational Development – Strengthening YMCA governance and capacity for action.
Pillar 2: Social Impact – Increasing YMCA’s impact on the resilience of youth at risk and in conflict with the law.
Pillar 3: Advocacy – Promoting youth justice and engaging young people in decision-making.

  • Official launch of the DIR project

The workshop played a crucial role in providing a platform for aligning project objectives, establishing a clear strategic framework and facilitating in-depth information sharing between stakeholders
During the workshop was presented:

– Technical framing and strategic orientation of the project
– Familiarization with DIR activities and components
– Gathering expectations from local staff
– Adaptation to the local context
– Action plan for local implementation

The workshop enabled all participants, especially managers and field staff, to understand their role in achieving the project’s ambitious objectives.
