Every person deserves a second chance, a chance to learn, to grow, and to rebuild their life with dignity. As part of YMCA Madagascarโs ongoing commitment to empowerment and social reintegration, thirty women at the Moramanga Detention Center recently completed a professional training program in catering.
Their efforts were honored during a moving certificate ceremony. This moment marked not only the conclusion of a training program, but also the beginning of a new journey. Guided by experienced trainers and supported by DERFTP Moramanga, each woman successfully passed a final exam and received a certification as a symbol of progress and renewed hope.
The event brought together national and local authorities, including the Minister, the Member of Parliament, the mayors of Moramangaโs urban and rural communes, and several correctional officials. Their presence reflected a shared commitment to inclusive reintegration efforts and delivered a clear message: these women are not forgotten.
To further strengthen the impact of the program, the Minister announced the upcoming provision of sewing machines. This initiative will support the women in developing income-generating activities both during their time in detention and after their release.
At YMCA Madagascar, we believe in the power of transformation and in the potential of every human being. This initiative represents more than vocational training. It opens the door to dignity, economic independence, and renewed hope.
