Ready for Work: Young People Explore Digital Skills

Faced with the evolving world of work, access to new digital skills can help broaden young people’s professional opportunities. As part of YMCA Madagascar’s Ready for Work programme, an information session was held in collaboration with FlowMad at YMCA Ankerana to introduce young people to No-Code and its professional applications. The session brought together curious young people eager to learn about new opportunities in the digital field.

Participants were introduced to No-Code, an approach that makes it possible to create applications, platforms, and other digital tools without relying on traditional programming. The session also explored how No-Code can address practical needs within organizations and businesses, from collecting and organizing data to processing and analyzing information, automating tasks, and creating digital tools and applications.

The objective was not only to introduce a new technology, but also to help young people understand how this skill can fit into a professional pathway and respond to evolving workplace needs. Beyond the technical aspects, the discussions addressed several skills and realities related to employability:

    • client communication and relations;
    • negotiation;
    • work organization;
    • freelancing;
    • working with international clients;
    • payment-related considerations for international freelance work.

The exchanges gave participants the opportunity to discover training opportunities in the field and engage directly with professionals who shared their experience in No-Code and freelancing, helping them connect digital learning with the realities of the workplace and explore how these skills can open new professional pathways.

This is at the heart of Ready for Work: helping young people move from awareness to exploration, and from exploration towards skills development. By exposing them to new areas of work and practical professional knowledge, YMCA Madagascar supports them in building the skills and confidence needed to navigate an evolving labour market and explore pathways towards economic empowerment and decent work.
