YMCA Madagascar

Launch of SamY-MEVA 2.0 project

L'histoire inspirante de Zoky Sendra, entrepreneure malgache, dont le succès grâce au programme d'entrepreneuriat de YMCA Madagascar illustre l'impact positif de l'organisation sur la création d'emplois et le développement économique local.

SamY-Meva is back for a second edition this 2024! But what is SamY-Meva?

Samy Meva is an initiative launched by Zoky Sendra, a young entrepreneur who was incubated at YMCA Madagascar in 2019-2020. She owns a hairdressing salon in Analamahitsy.
On the verge of bankruptcy and considering calling it quits, Zoky Sendra met YMCA Madagascar, which trained her in entrepreneurship during a bootcamp. The program radically changed her outlook and gave her the skills she needed to run her hairdressing salon.
In 2019, the ‘Salon de Coiffure Sendra’ organised a fashion show evening, SamY-MEVA 1.0, marking the launch of her business and her project into the world of entrepreneurship with the support of the YMCA Madagascar Association and its young members.
Now, after several years of challenges, trials and growth, the show continues to expand, pursuing its vision of promoting the development of the sector with a significant impact on the business, the personal life of Zoky Sendra, as well as that of his collaborators and business partners.

SamY-Meva 2.0, Launch on 14, 15 and 16 March 2024

Five years after receiving entrepreneurial support from YMCA Madagascar, Zoky Sendra is opening her second “Beauty salon” in a new establishment in Analamahitsy Tanàna, at the junction of the road leading to Nanisana, next to the bus stop. This expansion will enable her to enhance her professionalism and build up a loyal clientele to broaden her horizons even further.

Objectives

The objectives of this project include:

Offering a wide range of high-quality beauty and well-being services in the Analamahitsy district and surrounding area: hairdressing, nails, waxing, aesthetics.

  • Recruit trained, expert and efficient staff to take care of customers.

  • Offering opportunities for sharing experiences and income-generating activities for young people in member associations and other institutions bringing together vulnerable women.
