Constructive Exchanges and Exploration of Y-DIGITAL (c)

During his visit, Dr. Coly engaged with the staffs to discuss YMCA Madagascar’s strategies for youth recruitment, engagement, and retention. On Saturday, August 31, he attended local club activities and was impressed by the diversity and dedication of young people involved in these initiatives.

One particular innovation that caught Dr. Coly’s attention was the Y-DIGITAL (c) platform, an online tool that facilitates club and member registration and management. Recognizing its potential, he emphasized the need to scale this tool across all African YMCAs, considering it a major advancement in member management. He even had the opportunity to personally register on the platform as a member of the Fort-Dauphin branch.

Dr. Coly further recommended expanding Y-DIGITAL (c) to include staff, administration, and partner community management. This would enable the African Alliance of YMCAs to build a reliable database, making youth recruitment more efficient at both regional and global levels.

Dr. Coly’s visit culminated in the 100th-anniversary celebration of YMCA Madagascar, where he delivered an inspiring speech at the opening ceremony. He also expressed his appreciation to the YMCA Madagascar team for the invitation to the “YMCA Friends’ Night” and commended their dedication over the years.

Beyond strengthening the bond between YMCA Madagascar and the African Alliance, this visit has paved the way for exciting future developments. With Dr. Coly’s recommendations for expanding the Y-DIGITAL platform, YMCA Madagascar has the potential to become a benchmark for YMCAs across Africa, fostering youth and community development across the continent
