Did you know that a single cigarette butt can pollute up to 500 liters of water? On May 16, 2025, twenty incredible Green Ambassadors took bold action at the Antsirabe train station.
This third edition focused specifically on raising awareness about the dangers of discarded cigarette butts and leading a powerful clean-up initiative for a more sustainable planet.
In just one hour, they collected an astonishing 7,700 cigarette butts from the streets.
Thanks to their efforts, 3,850,000 liters of water have been protected. That’s real impact!
And there’s more: these collected butts won’t go to waste. They’ll be transformed into unique works of art by Hosodoko-ko, proving that even waste can be reimagined into something meaningful.
This is a call to everyone and especially to smokers: if we want to live in a cleaner and healthier environment, we must stop throwing cigarette butts anywhere.
Let’s learn to give waste a second life as an eco-friendly gesture that makes a difference.
Every gesture counts. Don’t toss your cigarette butts, keep them, they still hold value.
Stay tuned for more youth-led environmental actions coming soon.
