Amid growing recognition of gender equality as a key driver of sustainable development, YMCA Madagascar has taken a significant step forward with the official launch of its Women’s Leadership Development Program. Bringing together women leaders, young changemakers, students, and entrepreneurs, the launch event was held under a powerful theme: “Women as key agents of change in our society.”
Designed as a structured initiative, the program aims to:
- strengthen leadership skills among young women,
- support their economic empowerment,
- and enhance their participation in decision-making processes.
Beyond its objectives, the program is part of a broader vision of sustainable social transformation, one in which women are not only beneficiaries, but active drivers of change.
More than a formal ceremony, the event created a meaningful space for intergenerational dialogue. Contributions from women leaders highlighted the major challenges women face in the professional sphere, while also shedding light on the strategies and actions they have taken to overcome them. Their journeys—marked by courage, resilience, commitment, and impact—deeply inspired participants.
A powerful message shared by one of the panelists, Harilala RAMANANTSOA, the Mayor of the Urban Commune of Antananarivo, : ” When you do something, think about the impact. Take actions that have a real impact. “
Through these testimonies, one strong conviction emerged: leadership is not defined by gender, but by vision and commitment.
The event also featured the awarding of certificates to the young ambassadors of the S2C Program, Cohort IX. This recognition not only marks the completion of their journey, but more importantly, the beginning of a lasting commitment to serving their communities. It reflects a powerful reality: young people are ready to step up and drive change.
