From September 5 to 7, 2025, young members of YMCA Antsirabe gathered in Betafo for a three-day camp dedicated to discovery, sharing, and commitment. It was more than just an outing; it was a chance to live, learn, and grow as a community.
Day 1 – Building Connections
Upon arrival in Betafo, participants engaged in collective activities that encouraged cooperation and friendship. Tasks were shared, icebreakers helped everyone get to know each other, and laughter quickly broke the ice. This climate of trust set the tone for the rest of the camp.
Day 2 – Serving and Exploring
The second day combined civic engagement, cultural immersion, and exploration. The cleaning of the Tranompokonolona and its surroundings, carried out alongside municipal employees, strengthened participants’ sense of responsibility and environmental awareness. Visits to local heritage sites; churches, royal tombs, and other landmarks; provided an enriching glimpse into the history and culture of Betafo. The day concluded with an excursion to Ranomafana and a hike to the breathtaking Andriamamovoka waterfall, offering participants a chance to reconnect with nature in a spirit of discovery and relaxation.
Day 3 – Sharing and Remembering
The last day was more relaxed, leaving space for personal moments: picking vondalana*, buying small souvenirs, and capturing memories in photos. The trip back to Antsirabe was filled with joy, but also with the bittersweet feeling that comes after experiencing something truly special together.
Looking back, this camp was not just about activities. It was about teamwork, civic responsibility, and pride in local culture. It gave every participant the chance to step outside of routine, to contribute, and to feel part of something bigger.
This adventure left us with lasting memories, stronger bonds, and the desire to keep discovering, learning, and serving side by side.
