THIS IS HOW YOUTH CREATE PEACE

YWCA-YMCA of Sweden held an international course in youth, peace, security and video production in which two of our YMCA members from Madagascar, Mialy Sombiniaina Rakotondrasoa and Thierry Randrianarison have participated.

Youth Peace and Security

The course aimed to provide tools, platforms and knowledge for youth to express themselves about their challenges and role for peace and security. The course was divided into 3 weeks online meeting where they produced an interview video on the subject of Youth, Peace and Security and discussed the role of youth work for Youth, Peace and Security

UNSCR 2250

The UNSCR 2250 (United Nations Security Council Resolutions) was adopted in December 2015 by the United Nations Security Council. The resolution recognizes that “young people play an important and positive role in the maintenance and promotion of international peace and security”. It urges the UN Member States to give youth a greater voice in decision-making at the local, national, regional and international levels and to consider setting up mechanisms that would enable young people to participate meaningfully in peace processes.

It identifies five key pillars for action:
