Strengthening Mental Well-Being Among Staff Members

As mental health becomes a major concern for young people, YMCA Madagascar continues to strengthen its commitment through training sessions focused on well-being and emotional education. Within this framework, the second staff training session with OMENA Movement took place, aiming to equip participants with essential skills to better understand themselves, communicate more effectively, and protect their well-being.

Held at YPS Ankerana on Friday, November 14, 2025, this second phase of the training brought together 18 staff members from different branches, as well as several youth from the Y-Health Club. All participants shared a common objective: deepening their self-understanding to reinforce their mental health.

The session centered on three main components:

  • Self-introspection, through identifying personal strengths, vulnerabilities, and limits.

  • Clarifying personal values, to better understand what guides decision-making and influences overall well-being.

  • Learning to set healthy boundaries, supported by practical exercises and scenario-based activities.

This training enabled participants to gain a deeper awareness of themselves, an essential foundation for improving mental health. They now have concrete tools to express their needs, establish healthy boundaries, and navigate their interactions with greater clarity and balance.

Through a blend of guided reflection, practical activities, and meaningful discussions, the session helped participants translate knowledge into tangible behavioral change. By equipping both staff and young people with tools for self-awareness and healthy communication, YMCA Madagascar continues to foster empowered, resilient individuals who can actively care for their mental well-being.
