Did you know that Madagascar loses approximately 150,000 hectares of natural forest every year? This accelerated deforestation threatens ecological balance, weakens rural communities, and compromises the country’s long-term economic prospects.
In this context, reforestation is no longer an option, it is a necessity.
Throughout the month of February, the zones and branches of Ankerana, Carion, Moramanga, and Antsirabe under YMCA Madagascar mobilized for a coordinated reforestation and environmental awareness initiative, driven by a shared objective: to invest sustainably in the health of our planet and future generations.
As a consolidated national outcome, 3,500 trees were planted across several sites, including Carion, Angavokely, Tsarafasina (Moramanga), and Ivohitra (Antsirabe).
Beyond the numbers, the result is significant:
