In a context where cyber threats continue to increase and young people are increasingly exposed to risks related to the use of the Internet and social media, the branch of YMCA Analamanga, in partnership with ISOC Madagascar (Internet Society Madagascar Chapter), organized a cybercrime awareness session held in Manjakaray.
This initiative brought together 26 young participants around a key objective: to develop a culture of cybersecurity and strengthen young people’s ability to adopt responsible and safe behaviors in the digital environment.
A Concrete Response to the Challenges of Digital Transformation
In the digital era, where communication, learning, and professional opportunities increasingly rely on digital platforms, mastering good digital practices has become an essential skill.
Through this interactive training, participants were able to:
- Understand the mechanisms of cybercrime and the risks related to network manipulation;
- Identify major digital threats such as viruses, malware, phishing, and hacking attempts;
- Acquire cyber-hygiene reflexes to secure their accounts and personal data;
- Strengthen their vigilance against dangers circulating on social media and digital tools.
The practical modules and participatory discussions encouraged strong youth engagement, allowing participants to share their experiences and analyze real-life situations they encounter in their daily digital lives.
At the end of the training, several significant improvements were observed among the participants such as a better understanding of cyberspace risks; increased awareness of the importance of secure passwords and data protection; a stronger ability to recognize cyber threats and risky online behaviors and the adoption of good digital practices to prevent cyberattacks.
Beyond technical knowledge, this initiative also helped young people understand that digital security is now a major issue in personal, academic, and professional life.
A Lasting Impact for a More Responsible Digital Youth
In a constantly evolving digital environment, investing in young people’s digital education is an essential lever for building a society that is more resilient to cyber threats. This awareness-raising activity therefore contributes to:
- Reducing the risks of cyberattacks and online manipulation among young users;
- Promoting responsible and secure use of digital tools;
- Strengthening young people’s digital autonomy in the face of current technological challenges;
- Preparing a generation that is more aware of the issues related to data protection and cybersecurity.
Through this initiative, a strong commitment is introduced toward digital inclusion, technological education, and the protection of young people in an increasingly connected world.
