Agriculture and Reintegration: 15 Youth detainees trained at Moramanga Central Detention

As part of its commitment to youth inclusion and development, YMCA Madagascar is supporting detainees at the Moramanga Central Detention Center through an agricultural initiative that brings hope and opportunity.

On February 1, 2025, 15 young adult detainees received training in vegetable farming, under the guidance of YMCA leaders. This activity equips them with essential farming skills, helping them achieve food self-sufficiency while preparing for their social and professional reintegration after release.

This project is built on three key objectives:

The harvests have been promising, reflecting the participants’ dedication and hard work. By learning to cultivate , they not only gain technical knowledge but also develop perseverance, an essential skill for their future.

Through this initiative, YMCA Madagascar reaffirm the commitment to empowering youth and strengthening the capacities of vulnerable young individuals.
