YMCA Madagascar remains deeply committed to ensuring that young people are not only engaged in our programs but also actively involved in shaping the decisions that drive our organization forward. Excluding youth from this process is not an option, it is against the very principles we stand for.
On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, National General Secretary, Mr. ANDRIHERINDRAINY Tsikiniaina, met with young leaders from YMCA Antsirabe for a dedicated consultation session. The goal: to gain deeper insight into their needs, expectations, and long-term vision for the YMCA.
During the exchange, participants shared ideas and concrete suggestions for improvement, particularly in the following areas:
The relevance and accessibility of YMCA programs
The quality of interaction and collaboration between staff and youth
The availability and adequacy of infrastructure and equipment
In addition to these reflections, the session encouraged participants to express their aspirations for what YMCA should become in the next five to ten years. Their contributions are not only valuable, they are vital to the organization’s growth.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen youth participation across all levels of YMCA Madagascar. The next youth consultation will take place soon at the YMCA Ankerana center.
Because the future of the YMCA is being built with and by its youth !
